NJALL accomplishes much work through the Committee structure.  Each committee is led by a Board member chairperson or co-chairs.  General members are encouraged to participate in committees.  If you are interested, please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Committees 

Awards:  Solicits nominations and recognizes individuals or groups meriting recognition for significant contributions to Lifelong Learning; assures that awards are based on merit and approved by the Executive Board.

Scholarships:  Solicits donations; solicits and reviews applications for scholarship awards; ensures that scholarship winners meet eligibility requirements, merit scholarship assistance, and are approved by the Executive Board; submits policy proposals to the Executive Board for discussion and approval.

Conference:  Makes all arrangements such as site selection, date and program of activities for the annual conference of the Association.  Approval of the Executive Board is needed for site selection, date and budget.

Constitution and Bylaws:  Reviews and reports recommendations for constitutional changes; the chairperson serves as parliamentarian at all meetings of the Association.

Finance:  Prepares the annual budget of the Association for presentation to the Executive Board at the first meeting of the fiscal year; arranges for an annual financial statement prepared by an independent accountant, and prepares the financial report of the Association for presentation to the Executive Board at its annual meeting.

Advocacy:  Identifies legislation and issues significant to Lifelong Learning; keeps the Executive Board and the membership informed of local, state, and federal legislation affecting Lifelong Learning; takes whatever action is deemed necessary by the Executive Board.

Membership:  Recruits new members and encourages continued participation of current members; keeps an accurate and up-to-date membership list; and prepares and distributes an annual membership directory.

Nominations and Elections:  Prepares the ballot of Officers and Members at Large for the annual elections and administers the election procedures.

Professional Development:  Coordinates and schedules Association programs such as workshops and seminars other than the annual conference; promotes each program and reviews program budgets.

Public Relations:  Improves the image of Lifelong Learning and of the New Jersey Association of Lifelong Learning by working closely with all committees and by making visible the activities and accomplishments of the Association and its members.

Publications:  Appoints editors to the newsletter and the magazine annually; advises and consults on all publications to the Association; to arranges and monitors an appropriate timetable for distribution of publications.
